I’m Katie

(obvs) and I think I might just have…

the best JOB in the world

After ten years working as a trade journalist (digging, cajoling and generally getting a lot of doors slammed in my face), I decided to retrain as a Humanist Wedding Celebrant with Humanists UK in 2016.

I made this life-changing decision whilst actually watching my two university friends get married.

Their whole wedding was amazing, but it was the ceremony that really captured my imagination. It was incredible. Unlike other services I’d attended which had seemed very standardised and traditional, everything about this ceremony was custom-fit for them.

It was beautiful, fun and funny and totally captivating… A truly once in a lifetime experience that I still remember five years later!

I was pretty peeved I hadn’t thought to have one when I’d got married a few years previously. I’d never heard of humanist weddings and (wrongly!) assumed non-religious couples, like my husband and I, had to go down the civil route.

So, I decided, right there and then, to become a humanist wedding celebrant myself and make it my MISSION to spread the word about these amazing wedding ceremonies – and look, here I am doing just that!

I’m still a journalist, of sorts

Only now, as a humanist wedding celebrant, I’m privileged to report from the greatest frontier of all… LOVE *turns Moulin Rouge soundtrack up to full volume*.

Yes, yes… it’s totally cheesy – but true!

Things have changed a lot.

I still get to be professionally nosy but, instead of tapping up reluctant contacts for the insider gossip, my days are now spent surrounded by loved-up couples who actually WANT to talk to me; spinning their fabulous tales into one-of-a-kind love stories, which they are absolutely itching to share with their friends and family on their wedding day.

It’s all very joyous and fulfilling stuff!

Knowing that I have created a SUPERSTAR CEREMONY that is going to be treasured and remembered for years to come is not only incredibly rewarding… it’s also waaaaay more fun than reporting for Parking Monthly (yep, that’s a real magazine – and as dry as it sounds!).

Of course, the really wonderful thing about choosing your humanist wedding celebrant is getting to build a relationship with that person who will help you to mark that milestone moment in your life.

So, it’s really, really important that there’s a connection, and you feel absolutely delighted by the prospect of welcoming them into your world and sharing yourselves with them.

Hopefully, I’ve given you some sense of who I am and what I do. But I always recommend some face-to-face time, so you know whether or not we’ve got what it takes to go all the way together… (ooer!)

So get in touch. Let’s meet for a coffee, or a Skype call, and see if there’s a spark!

All the love,

Not just our celebrant…

…it felt like Katie had been our friend for years

A bit more about me…

I live in…

Lovely Cambridge with my husband, our two kids and our two dogs.

I love…

Sundays with no plans, KISS FM kitchen discos, eating Aldi crunchy peanut butter straight from the jar, and the Christina Aguilera ‘Stripped’ album.

I’m utterly obsessed with…

Made in Chelsea. I’ve appeared as an Extra twice and even had a MIC-themed hen party.

I’m also a…

Vegan who refuses to eat mushrooms and courgettes. In other words, a nightmare wedding guest!

And…
who are you?

You’re not religious so the idea of a church service feels a bit ick. But you know a civil ceremony would be one hell of an anti-climax.

You want something cool, creative and different for your wedding.

You’re up for creating a superstar ceremony experience that celebrates the two of you and which, by the end, has you throwing your hands up in the air, ready to party on down as a married couple!

You want to work with a Celebrant you can open up to and have a laugh with, and whose face you’ll be absolutely delighted to see beaming back at you as you make your way down the aisle.

If all that sounds like you – then hey, I’m yer gal!

LOTS of people…

…asked if Katie were one of our friends because she knew us so well and delivered the ceremony with such sincerity. I CANNOT RECOMMEND HER ENOUGH!
